| Thoughts from one of my favorite puritans~ Thomas Watson:
A good aim will not make a bad action
good, but a bad aim will make a good action bad. Sinister aims corrupt religion.
More are hurt by excess in lawful things than by
meddling with unlawful, as more are killed by wine than poison.
He who cannot deny his life for Christ will deny Christ.
Be convinced of the incomparable excellency of Christ. He
has an equality and cosubstantiality with God the Father, Colossians
2:9. He is the quintessence of goodness. He is compared to a head of
gold for riches, Song of Solomon 5:10; to the Rose of Sharon for
perfume, Song of Solomon 2:1; to a bright morning star for beauty,
Revelation 22:16. Jesus Christ is all that is good can require for
satisfaction or that we can desire for salvation. He is fully
commensurate to our wants. He has eye salve to anoint us, white
raiment to cover us, and His blood to heal us.
We shall never deny ourselves for Christ until we see glory and a
beauty in Him. Christ is all marrow and sweetness. He is better than
life, estate, or heaven.
reading watson is so delicious*

| China Names New Envoy to N. Korea - Washington Post By Michael Zhao :: 2006-09-10, 12:10 PM :: World From Washington Post:
China has appointed an outspoken career diplomat with extensive knowledge of the United States as its new ambassador to North Korea, the official New China News Agency said. Analysts said the appointment of Liu Xiaoming, 50, suggests officials in Beijing are reassessing their relationship with Pyongyang and trying to find a new way to press discussions among China, North Korea and the United States. "This comes as China increases the frequency of communication with the U.S. The Diplomatic Affairs Ministry is very cautious in choosing the ambassador, and Liu's experience will be helpful in enhancing the triangle communications among China, North Korea and the U.S.," Shi said. [Full Text] Also see the news of new ambassador in Chinese (with Liu's resume) and the Australian's N Korea leader on slow train to China: FRESH evidence emerged yesterday that reclusive North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has boarded his special luxurious train to Beijing in an attempt to smooth troubled relations with his country's only significant ally - while China is determined to stop him testing a nuclear bomb. With the Stalinist dictator reportedly crossing into China yesterday, pressure is again building from the other members of the six-party talks - formed to prevent North Korea going nuclear - to push Pyongyang to join talks after a year of refusing to co-operate, and two months after a tough UN resolution criticising North Korea. US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs Christopher Hill flew to Beijing yesterday from Tokyo, and will go on to Seoul, to throw American weight behind new efforts, led by China, to bring North Korea back to the table. | | |
| "The fact that Christans are exiles on the earth (1 peter 2:11) does not mean that they don't care what becomes of culture. We ARE exiles. "Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20) "Here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come" (Hebrews 13:14)
Life is a vapor lived in a foreign land.
BUt we are sOoo Blessed! that we should rejoice and be glad for our reward is great in heaven (Mathew 5:11-12) the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory to be revealed to us (Rom 8:18) and we are here to enjoy the merciful foretastes (1 Tim 4:3)
But our joy is a BROkEnHeaRteD one. . . as we wait for the redemption of our bodies (Rom 8:32)
Being exiles does not being cynical. It does not being indifferent or uninvolved. The salt of the earth does not mock rotting meat. Where it can, it saves and seasons. Ans wehre it can't, it weeps. And the light of the world does not withdraw, saying "good riddance" to godless darkness. It labors to illuminate.
Our influence is not of huffing and puffing, but of tears and persuasion adn perseverence. . .knowing the folly of racism de-God-ing of education, horrors of abortion, collapse of heterosexual marraige, tragic death-trmors,
The greatness of Christian exiles is not success but service. Whether we win or lose, we witness to the way of truth beauty and joy.
We DONT OWN CULTURE, and we DONT RULE IT. We serve it. .
with a brokenhearted joy and longsuffering mercy, for hte good of man and the glory of Jesus Christ."--J.Piper
